Position Purpose

The Buyer’s position is to maintain an effective vendor base for procurement of merchandise to be sold in souvenir and gift shops by reviewing sales materials, meeting with vendors, and attending trade shows. They make purchasing decisions based on analysis of customer demands with an eye to competitive pricing, availability of the product, market trends, store themes, and profitability.

Job Requirements:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Attend trade show to keep abreast of new trends, identify new product to keep assortment fresh.
  • Generate and analyze reports for performance including but not limited to sales, cost of goods, profit margin, and discount levels.
  • Analyze consumer buying patterns, trends, and economic conditions to anticipate future trends.
  • Collaborate closely with existing vendors and seek new vendors to ensure prices are competitive an maintain and develop desired products valued by our consumers.
  • Inspect samples and order merchandise consistent with store themes.
  • Negotiate discount terms, transportation arrangements, and timing arrival of merchandise.
  • Work closely with assigned Store Managers to manage and maintain stock levels and proper display of merchandise as well as producing annual budgets and assumptions.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred 4-year degree or 4 years of purchasing experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook with data entry capabilities.
  • Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing.
  • Valid Georgia or South Carolina Driver’s License with acceptable driving record for the past three years.
