Job Requirements of Safety Officer:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to handle stressful situations and communicate effectively with diverse and sometimes irate individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency.
- Ability to drive a non-air-conditioned trolley that is 27 feet to 42 feet in length in a safe, competent manner on busy public streets or on company property.
- Shall be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Shall be able to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow CASTmembers, the general public, law enforcement and emergency personnel and to complete paperwork correctly.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, climb stairs multiple times each day, lift 50 pounds to a height of 45 inches and carry it 10 yards and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Two years of college desirable.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
- Will provide training to acquire a Class B or higher CDL with airbrake endorsement (must obtain a CDL in two attempts).
- Must pass a DOT physical upon employment.

Safety Officer
Job Summary
The Safety Officer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Investigating accidents, injuries or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures and conduct safety inspections.
- Being first contact to initiate worker compensation claims and filing claims with Risk Management and insurance company.
- Reporting and or reviewing findings from safety inspections, safety evaluations and accident investigations to General Manager and National Safety Director and making recommendations from findings to improve safety.
- Maintaining an open line of communication and working closely with the National Safety Director on safety and insurance matters and maintaining liaisons with outside organizations such as the fire department, police department and rescue teams.
- Oversee special projects to ensure that facilities meet environment, health, and security standards and comply with government regulations
