Job Summary

The Retail Sales Associate’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Greet customers with a smile and make them feel welcome; offer to assist them.
  • Be knowledgeable of our products and pricing.
  • Use sales techniques to drive sales to meet daily goals.
  • Be exact or highly accurate when handling cash, checks and credit cards.
  • Verify and balance cash drawer.
  • Accurately produce reports and other departmental documents as assigned.
  • Receive and price and stock merchandise using store procedures and standards.
  • Keep the store (floors, fixtures) and the merchandise clean and organized.
  • Receive and price merchandise correctly.
  • Stock/back stock merchandise using store procedures and standards.
  • Restock supplies and inform Manager when low on supplies.
  • Follow merchandising presentation instructions and standards to display the merchandise to promote sales.
  • Keep the store (floors, fixtures) and the merchandise clean and organized. General maintenance duties include, but are not limited to, gather and empty trash; service, clean and supply restrooms; clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming; clean windows and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges or squeegees; dust and clean fixtures, walls, light fixtures and office machines; and sweep outdoor walkways.
  • Move boxes, crates and equipment to clean areas under and behind items. Remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Have demonstrable sales skills and have excellent math skills.
  • Ability to work with money, credit cards and cash receipts.
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as a team within the scope of established rules and regulations.
  • Ability to determine the type of tool and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to conduct inspections of equipment to evaluate if equipment is in proper working order.
  • Ability to lift, lower and carry items that typically weigh 25 - 50 pounds varying distances.
  • Able to see and hear well enough to perform the duties as specified in this job description
  • Shall have a driver’s license to drive delivery truck.
  • Shall successfully complete all pre-employment screening.
