Job Description

Position Purpose

To support the buying team in their efforts to maintain an effective vendor base for the procurement of merchandise to be sold in souvenir and gift shops. While buyers are off-site, this position will carry on many of the buyer’s administrative tasks, as well as making purchasing decisions based on criteria defined by the buying department.

Job Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Generate and analyze reports for performance including, but not limited to sales, cost of goods, profit margin and discount levels.
  • Maintain the buyer’s merchandise books, such as taking photos, printing, assembling, and updating merchandise
  • Work with vendors to develop new product
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and
  • Create schedules and make travel arrangements for buying trips and store
  • Visit stores with buyers or on own to assist with the construction and completion of visual
  • Attend buying shows as needed to assist buyers with creating SKUs and
  • When directed by Buyer’s Executive Assistant or Senior Buyer, perform administrative, special projects, and sometimes higher buying functions including, but not limited to generating inventory reorder reports and initiate purchase Recommending changes to the selling price of merchandise including, but not limited to mark-up and mark-down rates, and providing SKU information to Inventory Control Services by accurately completing the correct form.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High degrees of self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as a team within the scope of established rules and regulations.
  • Ability to predict sales and any anticipated change in the cost of goods for the budget.
  • Ability to identify, gather and analyze information, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to read, write and speak clear English in order to communicate with co-workers, vendors and the general public.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and persuasively, demonstrate group presentation skills and ability to conduct meetings.
