Job Description

Position Purpose

This position is to maintain an effective vendor base for procurement of merchandise to be sold in souvenir and gift shops by reviewing sales materials, meeting with vendors and attending trade shows.  Make purchasing decisions based on analysis of customer demands with an eye to competitive pricing, quality, availability of product, market trends, store themes and profitability while keeping to the corporate mission to be The Nation’s Storyteller ®.

 

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High degrees of self-motivation and the ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
  • Ability to gain a broad understanding of the retail process and apply this knowledge in the decision-making process.
  • Ability to identify, gather and analyze information, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to read, write and speak clear English in order to communicate with co-workers, vendors and the general public.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and persuasively, demonstrate group presentation skills and ability to conduct meetings.
