Position Purpose

This position will assist the Operations Manager in managing the Arlington National Cemetery Tours® logistical aspects of the daily tour operation while keeping to the company’s mission to be The Nation’s Storyteller®.  This position requires a good sense of safety, responsibility to lead and manage others with the ability to motivate staff and promote a harmonious workplace. 

 

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to hire, plan, organize, direct and coordinate the work of assigned personnel; ability to provide leadership, training, counsel, motivation, disciplining staff; processing grievances and constructive performance reviews to staff, securing their commitment to the department and company goals.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person, over the telephone and via the radio while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor.
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload, set priorities, organize workload and handle multiple responsibilities in a quality manner.
  • Ability to learn and memorize scripted tours and routes as assigned.
  • Shall be able to travel and work in excess of standard 40 hours and to be available during evenings, weekends, holidays and non-working hours when necessary.
  • Shall be able to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow CASTmembers, the general public, law enforcement and emergency personnel.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, climb stairs multiple times each day, lift up to 20 pounds to a height of 45 inches and carry it 10 yards and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.

 

Qualifications

  • Related college degree preferred.
  • Prior management experience required.
  • Valid District of Columbia, Virginia or Maryland CDL Class B with airbrake and passenger endorsements. Acceptable driving record for past three years.
