Job Summary

The Aquarist’s responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to:

  • Daily cleaning of inside the aquarium tanks.
  • Observation of animals. Report any injuries to the animals or health issues of animals to Senior Aquarist.
  • Prepare food and feed animals according to diet and schedule set by Senior Aquarist.
  • Fill out and maintain appropriate records.
  • Give tours as needed.
  • Assist Senior Aquarist as needed.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of theory and practice in maintaining an aquatic ecosystems.
  • Demonstrate computer skills necessary to do the job.
  • Ability to meet and deal with the public and other Company Employees in an effective and courteous manner.
  • Ability to learn and work with Company policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use various types of Aquarium products

Qualifications

  • Have completed higher level biology college courses or courses in related field or completion of advanced, college-level, related coursework and equivalent experience is required.
  • At least a year experience in an aquarium or zoological field with an emphasis on closed aquatic systems.
  • Previous experience in a public aquarium is desirable.
