Entertain guests from around the world as you reenact “the single most important event leading up to the American Revolution”, the Boston Tea Party!

The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum ® is owned and operated by Historic Tours of America ®, the Nation’s Storyteller ®.


Job Summary

As a CASTmember, you will serve as a Host to our guests, dress in historical costume, and portray a historical character while leading guests through the museum experience.  Through your intensive training, you will become an expert on the Boston Tea Party, the historical significance of this event, and its impact on the American Colonies. In addition to the daily experience, you will take part in the many productions in the Creative Department of the BTPSM, including but not limited to: Virtual Tour Program, “Huzzah! Tavern Nights”, “Revelry on Griffin's Wharf”, etc.

  1. Each actor/interpreter will perform multiple roles on site.
  2. Must be available to work on weekends and holidays.
  3. Some evening hours will be available for special events/programs/rehearsals.
  4. Friendly/outgoing dispositions expected. We pride ourselves on giving unrivaled customer service and have built a great reputation not only locally, but internationally.
  5. Must be comfortable working with and leading large groups of people.
  6. Must be able to work in all weather scenarios as you WILL be outside for part of your day.
  7. Prior performance experience and an interest in revolutionary war era history strongly preferred.
  8. Mandatory pre-employment drug screening

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn and memorize scripted materials and historical details.
  • Ability to work safely while wearing 18th century clothing.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations to satisfy the needs of our guests.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow CASTmembers and the general public.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • No prior knowledge is required, paid training is provided.


  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Prior performance or interpretation experience preferred
  • An interest in history is a plus
